1. What is Beast FTP (ip)

Beast FTP (ip) is a program for searching for files on open FTP servers on the internet.

Imagine you need a specific configuration, document, or source code. Instead of manually going through servers one by one, you launch the program — and it checks thousands of servers for you.

💡 SIMPLE ANALOGY If Google search works on web pages, then Beast FTP works on file storages — FTP servers. You enter a word, and the program searches for it in folder names, file names, and even inside files (if they are text and small).

What the Program Can Do

🔍 SEARCH

  • In folder names and file names
  • In file contents up to 10 MB
  • Among 80+ file types (.txt, .py, .conf, etc.)
  • Up to 4 levels deep in the directory tree

📡 WORK WITH SOURCES

  • Ready-made server database
  • IP range manually
  • Scanning by start and end IP

⚙️ MANAGE

  • Auto-continue without your participation
  • Progress saving — you can close and continue
  • Export results to TXT and JSON

🎨 CONVENIENCE

  • Russian and English language
  • Interface scale 50–200%
  • Clickable links right from the table
👥 WHO IS IT FOR System administrators, developers, security analysts, and anyone looking for publicly available data for educational or professional purposes.

2. System Requirements

For the program to work correctly, your computer must meet the following requirements:

ComponentRequirement
Operating System Windows 7–10 (64-bit) or newer
Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Version 2015–2022. If the program doesn't start and shows a DLL error, install: https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe
Free Disk Space At least 100 MB (for the program and database)
Internet Required for searching FTP servers. Required for program activation
Additional Software (optional) FileZilla or WinSCP — for convenient downloading of files from found FTP servers

3. Installing the Program

3.1. Where to Get the Files

The program is distributed as an archive containing two files:

Both files must be in the same folder.

⚠ IMPORTANT Do not rename or delete база.gz — without it the program cannot search servers!

3.2. Where to Extract

It is recommended to create a separate folder, for example:

D:\BeastFTP\

And extract both files into it:

D:\BeastFTP\
├── BeastFTP.exe
└── база.gz
ℹ TIP Do not run the program from the archive (zip/rar) — you must extract it to disk first.

3.3. What to Do If Antivirus Complains

Some antiviruses may mistakenly flag programs created with Python as suspicious. This is a false positive.

If your antivirus deletes or blocks BeastFTP.exe:

  1. Open your antivirus settings.
  2. Find the "Exclusions" or "Trusted Programs" section.
  3. Add the folder D:\BeastFTP\ to exclusions.
  4. Restore BeastFTP.exe from quarantine.

The program is safe and contains no viruses.

4. Program Activation

4.1. First Launch

Run BeastFTP.exe by double-clicking it.

ℹ NOTE On first launch, the "PROGRAM ACTIVATION" window will appear. This is protection against illegal use.

5.4. Results Table

ColumnWhat It Contains
#Sequential number
NameFile or folder name
ServerFTP server IP address
LinkFull address ftp://...
MatchWhere exactly found: in name, in folder, in content
💡 WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH RESULTS Right-click on a table row — a menu will open with commands:

5.5. Log

Here you can see everything the program does: which servers were checked, how many were active, what was found, what errors occurred. If something goes wrong — look here.

6. Search Modes

DATABASE

Use the ready-made server list from база.gz. This is the MAIN mode — it provides access to millions of addresses.

START-END

Set two IP addresses manually — for example, from 10.0.0.1 to 10.0.0.254.

⚠ LIMITATION The program generates no more than 1,000,000 addresses per range. If you enter a huge network, it will be truncated automatically.

How to Scan a Range

  1. Enter the start IP.
  2. Enter the end IP.
  3. Click "SCAN RANGE".
  4. The program will generate a list and start searching.

7. How the Program Searches for Files

In simple terms, the program does five steps:

  1. Takes the server list from the database (or from your range).
  2. Checks each server — whether it works and allows anonymous access.
  3. Enters the working server and starts walking through folders.
  4. Searches for a match in three places: folder name, file name, file content.
  5. Saves the result — adds a row to the table.

Limits to Keep Everything Fast

RuleValueWhy
Walk depth 4 levels Deeper — rare, but very slow
Files per folder up to 150 Folders with 10,000 files "kill" FTP
Subfolders per level up to 30 Protection against "clone folders"
File size for reading up to 10 MB Large files — usually not text
Connection timeout 3-10 seconds So "dead" servers don't slow things down

8. Configuring File Types

By default, the program searches only text and meaningful files — configurations, documents, source code, keys. It skips images, video, and music so as not to waste time.

Click "SETTINGS" to open the list of extensions.

CategoryExamplesEnabled
Source code .py, .js, .java, .c, .php Yes
Configs and data .conf, .ini, .json, .xml Yes
Keys and certificates .key, .pem, .crt, .pub Yes
Databases .db, .sqlite, .dump Yes
Archives .zip, .rar, .gz, .tar Yes
Documents .pdf, .txt, .log, .md Yes
Programs and libraries .exe, .dll, .so No
Media .jpg, .png, .mp3, .mp4 No

How to Quickly Configure the List

9. Search Profiles and Parameters

In the "SETTINGS" window, there are two related blocks: "SEARCH PROFILES" and "SEARCH PARAMETERS". They define HOW DEEP and HOW LONG the program will search for files on each server.

⚠ IMPORTANT Search parameters DO NOT affect which files to search for (that is configured in Section 8 — "FILE TYPE FILTER"). They affect how thoroughly and how long the program walks each server.

9.1. Three Search Profiles

Profiles are ready-made sets of parameters. One click — and all parameter fields are filled in automatically. Convenient when you don't want to fiddle with numbers manually.

Parameter Fast Standard Deep
Depth 2 levels 4 levels 6 levels
Folders per level 50 200 500
Files per server 500 5000 20000
Files per folder 100 150 300
Server timeout 60 s 1800 s 3600 s
File size 5 MB 10 MB 20 MB
Search inside Yes Yes Yes

Profile "FAST" (blue button)

What it's for: when you need to quickly scan through servers and see if there's anything interesting.

How it works:

When to use:

What it WON'T find:

Profile "STANDARD" (green button)

What it's for: balanced mode for everyday use. This is what you should choose by default.

How it works:

When to use:

What it will find:

Profile "DEEP" (purple button)

What it's for: maximum thoroughness. The program will walk the server up and down, but it will work for a long time.

How it works:

When to use:

What to expect:

⚠ WARNING The "Deep" profile can create load on your internet channel. If you're watching video or playing online — the internet may "sag". Better to run it at night or when the channel is free.

9.2. Search Parameters

Below the profiles are fine-tuning fields. They are filled automatically when you select a profile, but you can change them manually.

ParameterWhat It Means
Search depth (levels) How many levels deep to go into folders. Less — faster, but finds less. More — slower, but digs deeper. Recommended: 2–4.
Folders per level How many folders to walk at each level. Less — faster. More — wider coverage. Recommended: 50–300.
Files per server Maximum files the program will view on one server before moving to the next. 500 — fast. 20000 — slow.
Files per folder How many files to read from one folder. Folders with 10,000 files heavily slow down FTP. Recommended: 100–300.
Server timeout (sec) How many seconds maximum to spend on one server. 1800 = 30 minutes. 3600 = 1 hour.
File size for reading (MB) Files larger than this size are not read inside — only the name is checked. 5–10 MB is usually enough.
Search inside files CHECKBOX.
✓ — read file contents (slow, but more hits).
✗ — search by name only (fast, but finds less).

9.3. How to Choose the Right Profile

SituationProfile
Quickly check a huge range FAST
Regular search in the database STANDARD
Thorough search in 100 IPs DEEP
Slow internet FAST
Don't want to disturb family FAST
Want to find the maximum DEEP
Not sure what to choose STANDARD
💡 SIMPLE RULE Start with "STANDARD". If the search takes too long — switch to "FAST". If it finds nothing, but servers are alive — switch to "DEEP".

9.4. "RESET TO DEFAULTS" Button

Red button at the bottom of the parameters block. Returns all values to factory defaults:

Use if you "twisted" the parameters and got confused, or if the program works incorrectly because of invalid values.

ℹ SAVING ORDER All changes to profiles and parameters are applied ONLY after clicking "OK" at the bottom of the "SETTINGS" window. If you click "Cancel" — changes will be discarded.

After clicking "OK", parameters are saved to the file параметры поиска.json next to the program. On next launch they load automatically.

10. How to Resume Search After Stopping

The program can remember where it stopped. This is convenient if the search lasts for hours.

If You Clicked "STOP"

  1. Click "STOP" — the program will save progress.
  2. You can close the program — data won't be lost.
  3. On next launch, a message about the saved search will appear in the log. The "CONTINUE" button will become active.
  4. Click it — the search will continue from the same place.
⚠ IMPORTANT The "SEARCH DATABASE" button DELETES the old state and starts from scratch. If you want to continue an interrupted search — use only "CONTINUE".

How to Fully Reset Progress

11. How to Save Found Links

All results can be exported to a file — for example, to send to a colleague or process in Excel.

  1. Right-click anywhere in the table.
  2. In the menu, select "Save all results".
  3. Choose the format:
    • .txt — human-readable report.
    • .json — structured data for programs.
  4. Specify the folder and file name.
💡 WHAT'S INSIDE THE TXT FILE A numbered list: file name, server, link, match type. Opens in any text editor.

12. Interface Scale and Language

How to Increase or Decrease Font Size

  1. Open "SETTINGS".
  2. At the bottom of the window there are three buttons:
    • 🔍- — decrease.
    • 🔍100% — reset to default size.
    • 🔍+ — increase.

Available range — from 50% to 200%.

How to Change Language

Click the EN / RU button in the top right corner. All labels update instantly. The language is saved until next launch.

13. How to Speed Up Search

If the program runs too long, try the following one by one:

What to DoHow It Helps
Reduce "Servers per Batch" to 30-50 Each server is checked faster
Leave only the extensions you need Fewer files are downloaded
Scan a specific IP range Fewer servers — faster results
Turn off "AUTO" The program will stop after one batch
Choose the "Fast" profile Fewer folders, files, and timeout
Disable "Search inside files" Files are not downloaded — only names

14. FAQ and Solutions

❓ The program says "база.gz not found"

❓ Doesn't start, error about DLL

Install Visual C++ Redistributable: https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe

❓ Window opens but buttons are gray

Most likely the database is not loaded yet or is still being read. Wait 5–10 seconds and check the top panel — a green indicator should appear.

❓ Antivirus blocks the program

Add BeastFTP.exe to antivirus exclusions.

❓ Search runs but finds nothing

❓ Search takes too long

❓ The "SEARCH DATABASE" button doesn't work

A search is probably already running. Wait for it to finish or click "STOP". Only one search can run at a time.

❓ Links don't open on double-click

No program is assigned for ftp:// links in the system. Install FileZilla or WinSCP, or copy the link via the context menu and paste it into your FTP client.

❓ Program suddenly closed

Progress was saved automatically. Launch the program again — a suggestion to continue from the same place will appear.

❓ How to completely uninstall the program

  1. Delete the folder with BeastFTP.exe.
  2. Delete the file beast_search_state.dat if it remains.
  3. Delete the file beast_ftp_license.json if it remains.
